The Security Policy has been updated to reflect language from the UNDP Security Service Delivery Model as well as other United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) policies.
This update also includes:
- The recently approved definition of “Person-Centered Approach” in the context of security risk management.
- The removal of the concept of duty of care as a security responsibility. This concept has been removed from other UNSMS documents to reflect that instead of a duty of care, UN security has clear-cut roles and responsibilities to manage risks.
- Inclusion of other recently approved UNSMS policies like the Personnel Security Profile (PSP) to track UN personnel presence and the new mechanism to approve missions to very high-risk areas - the acceptable risk oversight and approval mechanism (AROAM).
- The Security Policy Procedure has also been updated to align with the updated Security Policy.
- The UNMSM Procedure is now available in French and in Spanish.
